2:10 am - Small cucumber!

The first time i entered London this time round last year, i noticed a new building in its skyline. I even took a pic of it - well, actually, i took a pic of the Tower of London but it was in the background.

After much procrastinating, i finally did some checks online - and found it's called "The Gherkin" (Oxford Concise Dictionary: a small variety of cucumber, or a young green cucumber, used for pickling). The official name is actually "30 St Mary Axe" - which is its address!

It is the2nd tallest building in the City Centre, after the Natwest Building nearby (tho the honours for London still belongs to the Canary Wharf Tower - see pics here) and is the home to the Swiss Re. Check out its website wif more interesting info and wonderful pics here.

Anyways, i decided to hunt for it and i found it yesterday. It was weird initially cuz when i got there, herds of people in coats were streaming out of the building. I realised later that the fire alarm was on. I never did find out if it was just a drill - altho it prolly was. Here are me pics! Posted by Picasa
